Although they are both equally good at shooting in all directions, running, jumping and ruthlessly destroying the iron destroyers of the Earth, the player can choose a character to his liking and set one of four difficulty levels. The order of passing the levels is free, there are control points and a large number of sequels. Five apocalyptic landscapes with hundreds of enemies are waiting for their hero!

Each location has a unique look. You will fight on the ruins of a big city, in a destroyed factory and even on a train. All levels are quite understandable and are passed in one breath with a frenzied rush of adrenaline. While many of those older Contra games were brutally hard, I like how this one here is tough, but it also feels fair.

While the actual game is short, it makes up for it with multiple difficulty levels, unlockable characters to play as, a mirror mode and a boss rush mode too. So, there is a lot of bang for your buck with this game. I am very impressed with what they have done with Blazing Chrome.

I have played many pretenders to the Contra throne over the years, but out of all the games, this one here can stand shoulder to shoulder with Contra.
